The series chronicles the lives of the staff and customers of a restaurant called Fujimura, owned by veteran chef Kumano.

In 1995, Aji Ichi Monme has been adapted into a drama staring Nakai Masahiro. In 1999, it won the 44th Shogakukan Manga Award in the seinen manga category. The series had two chapters published in English from June to July, 1996, in the educational publication Mangajin's issues #56 and #57.
