However, once Hinata approached her at the start of high school, Aoi once again is drawn towards the lure of the mountains. She is very shy and refuses invitations to go out from classmates by giving convincing reasons. On the other hand, she doesn't like to lose and Hinata sometimes teases her so that she'll try harder at something. While she sometimes feels self-aware regarding others' "girl power," she doesn't lack much of it and has improved her cooking skills by staying at home, so she can handle cooking well while on the mountains. She's a total novice when it comes to mountaneering but after going climbing with Hinata, she uses the internet to gain more knowledge and develops an interest in it. When she first reunited with Hinata she didn't have a very good impression of her and even though she didn't show it, Aoi wasn't enjoying being with her.
