We are actually introduced to Searchman before his operator Laika, who comes in a few episodes later. Similar to Laika, his attitude is that his Net Savior responsibility is his prime objective in everything that he does. He'll do anything to complete a mission, even if it means deleting innocent navis that get in the way. Obviously this kind of attitude puts him at odds with Rockman, but they eventually begin a friendship that becomes invaluable. Searchman goes so far as to even defy his operator's commands in order to save Rockman's life, which leads to their Soul Unison to create Search Soul. (Source: Rockman.exe Online)
