Shingo has an inferiority complex and prefers to keep his face obscured, as it usually draws him unwanted attention. Despite acting cheerful and outgoing, he is actually shy and feels comfortable only around his friend, Rihito. Shingo has been friends with Ray and has had a crush on him since high school, when Shingo came out as gay on a spur of the moment and Ray didn't make a big deal of it.
