Rune is a mermaid who took on human form to be with Riku. In order to become a human permanently, she needs to have sex with Riku before mermaid mating season arrives; however, they can't move forward since every time she gets aroused, her legs turn back into a tail. She is very devoted to Riku and always introduces herself as his wife. Rune can be naive when it comes to human customs, and has been interested in "human mating" for a long time since she finds it more romantic than mermaid reproduction.
