Tokio Kuryuu

The main character of .hack//Link. He is an hardcore gamer and his dream is to become a legendary game hero just like his idols Kite, Haseo and Tsukasa had once been. He has an extremely outgoing and energetic personality, and is very physically uncoordinated and ditsy. In his original appearance he is 14 years old, and because of his gaming obsession he doesn't care about anything else, and does poorly in school. His was pulled into The World as he touched a mysterious black disc, which was given to him by his classmate Saika Amagi. In The World, he encounters the legendary hacker Kite and his opponent Fluegel in the middle of a fight. He tries to help Kite and his comrades to defeat "Schicksal" and protect The World from harm and destruction. Returning in .hack//Sora: Beyond the World as a supporting role, Tokio Kuryuu's identity is hidden under the alias "9" (read as 九). He is now 19 or 20 years old, and over 6 feet tall. In his new manga appearance he has no dialogue and is not referred to by name. His new countenance here is stoic and serious, a stark contrast to Twilight Knights. He seems to be working together with David Steinberg, and looks after and assists the main character Sora. He is also vaguely remembered by Tanaka Kakeru, who says "that guy" is the one who saved him during the climax of events. No voice actors have been added to this character.
